In case you missed it, there’s an important deadline coming up for public works contractors. Contractors registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) need to renew their registration for the next fiscal year by the end of June. Contractors who don’t renew their registration by July 1 and continue working on public works projects will be subject to late fees and penalties up to $10,000.

The annual registration fee is $400. Contractors can register using the DIR’s online public works contractor registration system.

Please note:

  • Contractors not currently registered must wait until the fiscal year begins on July 1 to register for the 2018/2019 fiscal year.
  • There is a registration exemption for contractors who work exclusively on small projects.

You can find additional registration information and requirements in the full release from the DIR.
