Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. PPACA. ACA. ObamaCare. The Health Care Reform. Whatever you want to call it, expletives included, it’s coming January 2014 and it is here to stay.

It seems that every news outlet we turn to has a new article bashing the Health Care Reform.

While the reform isn’t winning any popularity contests and change can be intimidating, we at Contractors Prevailing Wage are embracing the change and are looking at the positives of Health Care Reform. Really, there are some!

A recent article was posted at the Huffington Post by Morna Murray entitled Health Care Reform: Us vs.Them, echoes our feelings and may help make this change a little less painful when you take a look at the positive changes that will happen with PPACA.

Murray explains that the issue is extremely politicized with a poll Memorial Day weekend indicating that over half of Americans polled still oppose ObamaCare, most due to political reasons! This is a little concerning since the election is over and love it or hate it, we all have to accept it.

Murray poses a very simple question that may make an opposer blush: “How can anyone oppose the common sense idea that everyone should have health insurance and access to quality health care?”

Murray goes into why economically it makes sense as well as focusing on the good points on the new world of health care. For starters, we will no longer have annual and lifetime caps on how much our health insurance company will pay, those of us with pre-existing conditions will be able to get insurance, and there will be free preventative care for all!

The list of cons on the subject isn’t exactly short, but we are optimistic that with time those will minimize.

This is a long overdue change. The question we should really be asking ourselves isn’t “why change health care now,” it’s “why haven’t we changed health care already?”

Change is coming and we at CPW are here to help alleviate any confusion. We have two people in our office who became Certified Healthcare Reform Specialists® in June and are here to assist you with any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out; even if its just to cuss & discuss, we’d love to hear from you!
