Alaska has joined the ranks of States testing to see whether changes to their Davis-Bacon Act Regulations makes it easier to get public works projects completed! As reported in the Peninsula Clarion, the signing of  House Bill 155 into law will result in the threshold for Alaska’s Little Davis-Bacon Act wages, previously set at a minimum job cost of $2000, is now $25000.

While citing the particular challenges related to doing public works projects in Alaska, the arguments in favor of the change are largely consistent with those advanced by opponents of the Davis-Bacon Act – namely, that it reduces the ‘bang’ for the government’s ‘buck’.

As always, we will continue to keep you up to date on the ongoing struggle between support and repeal efforts.
